The conceptual framework for this session evolved out of the seminal work of Peniston and Kulkosky from the 1980’s. They conducted several RCT studies exploring the use of alpha-theta NFB for alcohol and substance abuse as well as PTSD in veterans. Each training session was preceded by hand warming, autogenic training and hypnotic success-oriented imagery. This session extends this original work through pre-nfb training with short hypnotic inductions (reduces artifact and enhances engagement in the process) and with inter-session, hypnotic recorded success imagery exercises for reinforcement. Combining NFB with other adjunctive methods is not new but neither is it frequently applied. This session will provide an overview of this concept. A best of both modalities model.
