This presentation explores the concept of developmental trauma: how it is different from PTSD; risk factors involved in its’ inception; the neurophysiology involved including potential biomarkers in the EEG and in Event Related Potentials. A randomized control study of the effects of neurofeedback on adults with developmental trauma will be examined, as well as a randomized control study of the effects of neurofeedback on children with developmental trauma.

Learning Objectives – Introductory; participants will be able to;

  • Participants will be able to define developmental trauma.
  • Participants will be able to list at least three of the parent characteristics that increase a child’s risk for development trauma.
  • Participants will be able to list at least five types of trauma that can be involved in developmental trauma.
